PU’s delegation returns after successful visit to China

LAHORE: (Wednesday, July 30, 2025): A high-level delegation of Punjab University led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali returned Pakistan after a successful official visit to China. The delegation included Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Mahboob Hussain, Dean Geo-sciences Prof Dr Sajid Rashid and senior officers of the Governor’s Office. During this important visit, the delegation signed several memorandums of understanding with various Chinese universities and research institutions to promote educational, research and cultural cooperation. In an important part of the visit, the delegation represented Pakistan at the international conference of ASEAN Countries and held useful and fruitful meetings with delegations from different countries of the world. These meetings will provide new dimensions to the collaboration between PU and other international institutions in the future. The conference was attended by delegates from six countries, in which a delegation from PU gave a detailed briefing on teaching and research activities. A significant development during the visit was the signing of a MoU between the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Punjab University and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Anshan University, China. The signing ceremony was attended by PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali as the chief guest. Under the agreement, the two universities will work together to promote academic exchanges, joint research projects, and cultural harmony. The deans of both faculties termed the agreement as a positive step towards further strengthening the academic and research relations between Pakistan and China. This historic visit is a great example of the increase in the international presence, reputation, and influence of Pakistan’s higher education institutions.
